Set One

Violet vs

Practice/Luxury
For most people Violet must have been a pretty unknown player before this tournament. Sure he has played Proleague but that does not mean anyone will remember him. That is the point where the Averatec-Intel Classic strikes. He took out FrOzean and proved that he had good PvT. This just will not help him against his next opponent. Luxury/Practice/Chance is the KTF Zerg star. He won a MSL, and he is a beast. Without praising him any more there is one more thing. Both players belong to the KTF MagicNs which means that Violet probably lost a whole bunch of times against Luxury in practice games. How will this effect the game? Enjoy this battle between teammates!
Violet came out on top in a game of incredible harassment and back and forth play.
Practice started the action up with a very strong mutalisk attack to Violet’s main, while Violet countered with some dark templar harassment that Practice would not soon forget. Some zerglings pressure at the front made the game look at one point to clearly be in favor of Practice.
Corsairs and photon cannons helped stem the mutalisk attack, and this prompted Violet to make his move. Some legendary dark templar harassment followed, and by the time the game was over close to 30 drones total were taken out. On top of losing the drones the Protoss also sniped numerous overlords, slowing the Zerg unit production to a crawl.
Eventually the Protoss was set to make a big move on the map, and the push was backed up with a small attack to an expansion and a four-strong dark templar drop. The tide of Protoss units was too much for the Zerg to handle and Practice GGed.
Practice came back with a vengeance after successfully dealing with early harassment from his opponent.
Violet started off fast with some very early zealot harassment, which really didn’t cause too much damage. A pivotal point in the game came when the Protoss sent in a large number of zealots simply to sneak in a dark templar which was not effective either.
This prompted the Zerg to attack the weakened Protoss and keep him contained in his base. Violet attempted to get a new expansion going in the corner of the map, but a failed attempt to break out of his contain left him defenseless and he GGed.
Violet took home the set victory after a very high level game from the newest map seen on GOMtv.
Early battles on the map seemed to be fairly exchanged, while harassment and side attacks really turned the tides of battle.
Practice sniped a Protoss expansion, but Violet responded with his own zealot/dark templar harassment, along with his trademark corsair usage.
The Zerg found himself slowly going under the treads of the Protoss war machine, especially after making a very poor attack choice which left his supply half of his opponent’s.
Compounding the advantage was storm drops that began to hit the drone lines hard, and Practice was forced into a final desperate attack.
The attack was melted by the superior Protoss army, forcing Practice to GG and be eliminated from the tournament.
Violet proceeds to the round of 16.
Set Two

Tempest vs

Hul
Hul is probably the biggest underdog still alive in this tournament. Nobody thought that he could beat

Pretty and advance but he did. We should not ignore that Pretty played sloppy and is slumping. Tempest is not. He is as good as always. The question is, if Hul can pull up another miracle and defeat yet another good

or if Tempest will just beat him down since for a guy who took out Jaedong any other Zerg must be easy. Look forwards for some good action in this fierce PvZ!
Tempest showed his superior defending skills and came out on top after a fierce series of Zerg drops.
Hul broke down the temples early and looked to be leading an attack force to the rear of the main, but it wasn’t as clear cut as it looked. He instead chose to drop to the main itself, causing the photon cannons Tempest built to be out of position.
The Protoss fended off the drop, and three subsequent drops that followed. Hul refused to let his strategy fail, and the repeated attempts left him crippled to the soon arriving Protoss push.
Tempest easily marched over the offhatch Hul had placed, and steamrolled the Zerg after some dark templar harassment. Hul was forced to GG when the bulk of the Protoss army entered the Zerg main.
Tempest wrapped up the series by deflecting the same strategy as game one.
Hul attempted an early speed hydra bust, but was spotted by scouting corsairs just as he moved out. Seeing the front as too well defended, he opted to go for big drops in the Protoss main.
Unfortunately for Hul, the outcome was the same as last game and Tempest easily turned the Zerg forces away.
The ensuing Protoss push forced Hul out of the game and out of the tournament.
Set Three

Gangyu/Kwanro vs

Mensol
This seems to be a long and hard tournament for Mensol since he faces the second CJ Zerg in a row. He took out OriOn to advance into the Ro32 where now Kwanro is in his way. Can the Woongjin Zerg repeat a ZvZ victory against another CJ Zerg? We will see!
Mensol proved his incredible micro abilities and came out on top after a very high level Zerg versus Zerg.
Mensol started off the aggression with zerglings almost taking out Gangyu’s fast hatchery. Gangyu held it off just barely but was unable to counter as Mensol’s sunken colony completed just in time.
The aggressive Mensol also had the first spire completed, and dealt some drone damage before scourges hatched.
The next phase of the game was an incredible balancing act of the stronger army of Mensol going against the economy advantage of Gangyu.
The air battles were incredible, and Mensol never lost his mutalisk advantage despite having to deal with huge numbers of scourge.
Eventually Gangyu lost the entirety of his air force and was forced to GG, ending this fantastic game.
Mensol dominated again this match, dealing heavy damage early on that Gangyu simply couldn’t recover from.
Mensol spotted his opponent first and then stealthily moved his units to his opponent’s base for a devastating early ramp bust. The attack was incredible and took out large numbers of zerglings and drones, putting Gangyu very far behind.
Gangyu did manage to get a spire and a few air units up but it was no match for Mensol who had two drones on the gas very early on, along with the large numbers of zerglings outside the ramp.
Soon a mutalisk and zerglings combined attack totally broke Gangyu, forcing him to GG.
Mensol and his superb micro advance to the round of 16.
Set Four

Effort vs

Mind
Finally, the match of the day! The Zerg hope of CJ, Effort, will face the WeMade Terran master, Mind. Effort should have practiced really hard for this match and he can. He has skyhigh on his team who should be more than enough as a practice partner. However, WeMade might be famous for all their good Terrans (Mind, Nada, BaBy, pepe) but when we take a look a their Zerg players... there are few as good as Effort. Will this be a hindrance for Mind or will the 'Scholar Terran' just dominate with intelligent play? Find out in this epic ZvT!
Mind defeated the Zerg Effort after a high level game on Neo Medusa
The Terran wanted to fool the Zerg into thinking he was going for a mech build, and then suddenly transition into a bionic build.
Unfortunately for Mind, Effort spotted the plan early and took away his opponent’s element of surprise.
Before the main army of medic marine came out, four overlords were sniped by a wraith, slowing the unit count of the Zerg.
The center of map saw many back and forth battles, with both sides taking hits but slowly the Terran began gaining ground, especially after sniping a critical Zerg expansion.
Soon the temples were broken down and the flow of Terran troops going up the hill prompted Effort, who did not yet have a defiler, to GG.
Mind came back with a vengeance in this game of ultralisks and battlecruisers.
Early mutalisk harassment was good, though the control of the mutalisks later on in the game led them to be flown over the medic marine army, killing all of them.
Mind had to attack soon before the defiler mound came up, and got to the mouth of the Zerg main before he was finally beaten back by waves of lurkers, lings, and finally the defilers.
The Terran was in no position now to use a ground only army, and shifted to dropship play to harass expansions and separate the Zerg army. Mind met with some success as he did succeed in sniping a hatchery and evolution chamber, along with sending a lone firebat into the drone line to cause significant damage.
Mind countered that final drop with a large number of ultralisks, which soon overran the Terran base. Mind’s newly constructed battlecruisers were not able to deal enough damage to halt the onslaught, and the Terran player was forced to GG.
A single tank turned the entire course of battle, and the fate of the player moving on to the next round.
Mind opted for a very unconventional build, which included a couple of tanks and a small very early marine push. The push went ahead as planned, but Effort sacrificed numerous zerglings to take out that first critical tank.
Losing that tank would cost Mind the game. The next tank that came up was easily sniped and the attack was rendered useless.
Effort now had full control of the map, and sent out some lurkers to pressure the Terran into staying locked in his base.
The Terran player attempted a last ditch drop, but Effort countered with all of his lurkers and overran the still building Terran expansion.
Mind GGed and was the last person to be eliminated from the round of 32.
